Salut and Salam Namaste my Gistas!
First of, sending y’all wishes of a fruitful day plump with endless possibilities. Hapi International Woman’s Day.
And for my Naija chicas “E kuu ayeye odun Obirin t’eni o”
I’m fairly certain that by now you have been bombarded with a host of messages, greetings and quotes. Thank you, God! That means most of the work is done, which is good news for me cus I’m kinda swinging, yes swinging, by the seat of my pants here with this one. (Another American expression I’m yet to fully grasp, but Julia Roberts sounded so good saying it). So let’s get to it, nah?
Like most people, I’m a music junkie to the core, another something I got from mi Papa, well besides a funny looking pinky toe that’s sure to cure your foot fetish, on sight. Lol.
The point is that I relate more to the lyrics and subtle messages I get from songs so I figured that’d be my contribution. A music video. Enjoy.
So today all women are celebrated and HERalded for the love they share without inhibition, the strength they show in the gentlest ways and weakest of moments; the loyalty they persist in the face of unbearable circumstances. And somewhere in there is a ‘late bloomer of a clown’ like moi 🙂 Hmmm, God got jokes, sha.
Seriously tho, all of the accolades that comes from being a woman are duly noted and much appreciated, then, tomorrow comes….then what?
Now please understand that I am by no stretch of the imagination ignorant of the strides that women have made. I see the strides in my little corner of the world with what my sisters and I have accomplished in comparison to my Mom and GrandMas.
But the question remains, when tomorrow comes then what? That question is for both men AND women alike. Yes, ladies I’m talking to you too. She already knows she’s strong, she knows she radiates love and care effortlessly, she knows the statistics, she lives them everyday of the year. Well, hell if she knows all that, how do you celebrate ‘HER’ the remaining 364? (sorry couldn’t resist popping my own philosophical bubble. But I digress 🙂
Celebrate the rest of the year…..by just knowing that SHE is.
Sooo (yes that’s my comfort word) all that being said, what speaks to you most about a woman/being a woman? Mine we already know, so let’s just leave it alone. Ok, I go go now time for morning salat. I leave ju my luv with zis:
